Can someone help me identify this? Just bought at an antiques fair for £10. I’ve never seen this shape before and am uncertain whether the inside is coated or not?

It would have been enameled — I’m not sure if the enamel is intact at this point.

It’s an Enzo Mari La Mama series pan from the 70s to 80s. It’s enamelled on the inside and has a copper hanging loop instead of the usual silver painted aluminium.

The gunk on the surface may be burnt on food; in which case, it will come up like new after cleaning. The other possibility is that it is rusted; some users don’t realise that these are coated in enamel and will try to scrub away the coating, causing permanent damage.

If you find that the surface looks dull after cleaning (often the satin sheen is lost after repeated use and takes on a greyish cast) then don’t be afraid to season the insides as though for bare cast iron.
